Dog-Friendly Beaches in Cape Cod, Massachusetts
Cape Cod runs on a seasonal calendar. From roughly Labor Day to Memorial Day, most town beaches open up to dogs and the Cape becomes an excellent shoulder-season dog trip — empty sand, cool weather, and towns that are still open. In peak summer, the same beaches largely close to pets during the day.
Leash rules and seasonal restrictions
Most Cape Cod town beaches restrict or prohibit dogs during the summer season and allow them in the off-season, with dates set town by town. Cape Cod National Seashore permits leashed dogs on most beaches but closes areas seasonally for nesting shorebirds. Check the specific town's current regulations.
